Lakes, river and neighborhoods
The township was organized as Androver Township and got its present name in 1839; Battle Creek, on its northwest edge, has annexed some of its former land, including the old village of Verona. Beadle Lake, in the western part, has homes around it. Brownlee Park is an urbanized area just east of Battle Creek, Ceresco sits on the Kalamazoo River at the Marshall Township line, Sunrise Heights is a subdivision next to the city, and Wattles Park is centered on Wattles Road between Michigan Avenue and I-94.
Which rules apply
Emmett is a separate charter township, so Battle Creek's tree license chapter isn't its rule; ask the township office about any requirements. MISS DIG 811 notice, the DNR's oak window and Consumers Energy's service-drop rules apply as they do everywhere in the area.
Other towns on this site: Springfield, Marshall, Pennfield Township, and Battle Creek itself. See the full area list.
